PLAZZIO SIGNS B.G. BOLTON'S
Local Restaurateur to Design National Prototype
at New Retail/Entertainment Center

(WICHITA, KS) – B.G. Bolton’s Grille and Bar, a concept launched last September on Wichita’s west side, will be the first dining option for patrons of a new retail/entertainment complex on the city’s east side. Cathy Erickson, vice president of Laham Development, announced today that plans are underway for B.G. Bolton’s to locate at Plazzio, a 347,000 sq.-ft. development at 13th & Greenwich Road. Plazzio is being developed by Laham Development and Ritchie Development.

B.G. Bolton’s opened its first location last summer at 2330 N. Maize Road, featuring family dining, a sports bar and original recipes by popular local chef Tanya Tandoc. The Plazzio location will be 7,000 sq.-ft., including an outdoor patio, with total seating for approximately 250 people. B.G. Bolton’s was developed by former Rent-A-Center and Pizza Hut executive Bud Gates, Gates Enterprises, Inc.

Erickson says B. G. Bolton’s will offer a unique draw for the center’s varied following. “B.G. Bolton’s carries both the appeal of a family restaurant and the energy of a sports bar. We feel it’s an ideal choice for people of all ages and dining preferences, and will be the perfect complement to the Warren Theater as well as The Alley, which is scheduled to open later this year,” says Erickson.

Gates expects the Plazzio location to feature new recipes as B.G. Bolton’s menu continues to evolve. Current favorites include the Peppercorn Bourbon Sirloin, Washington State Pork Chops, and the Sweet Pepper Bacon Burger. He also notes that the second B.G. Bolton’s will be designed as the prototype for future franchise locations across the country. “This will be our first chance to design the space exactly the way we want it and tune the concept before taking it to a national level,” says Gates, who has been very pleased with the response to the first B.G. Bolton’s.

Gates says the Plazzio location offers all the key elements of a successful retail/entertainment development. “I really feel it’s an outstanding site, with the Warren Theater, new bowling center, planned retail, new residential housing and the proximity to K96 highway. It’s everything you look for in a site.”

B.G. Bolton’s is the third project to be announced since Plazzio was first launched in late 2000. The 88,000 sq.-ft. Warren Theater, the development’s anchor, opened in May 2002. The Alley, a 61,500 sq.-ft. bowling center with an indoor go cart track, billiards rooms and more, is underway with projected opening in late 2004.

Situated on a 60-acre site with access and visibility from K-96 Highway, Plazzio will introduce area consumers to a popular concept in retail development: the urban entertainment center. Upon completion, it will include up to 15 stores, restaurants and entertainment concepts.

Schaefer Johnson Cox Frey Architecture is the architect for B.G. Bolton’s. Shelden Architecture is project architect for Plazzio. J.P. Weigand & Sons is the exclusive broker.
