BRADLEY FAIR ANNOUNCES SUMMER JAZZ CONCERT LINE-UP
Center Welcomes Guests to 11th Year of Free Outdoor Concerts

(Wichita, KS) – For the 11th consecutive year the Bradley Fair Summer Concerts will help people stretch the weekends with Thursday night concerts. Concert guests can make the most of their weekends by starting with Thursday evenings at Bradley Fair. Guests will hear national and regional musicians while enjoying the beautiful venue overlooking Bradley Fair Lake – all compliments of Bradley Fair. This season features five musical performances.

Co-hosted by B98-FM and Clear Channel Radio, the concerts will be held June 3 through July 1, 2010. July 1 is our annual Celebrate America concert, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. The concerts are held from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the Bradley Fair Plaza. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating. Food and beverages by YiaYia’s are available for purchase at the Concert Café, located on the Bradley Fair Plaza.

June 3           Friends University Jazz Ensemble with special guest Rob Simon - Help bid "bon voyage" to the Friends University Jazz Ensemble at their last local performance before their appearance at the Orléans, France jazz festival. Join us to celebrate their accomplishments and support their representation of Friends University, the City of Wichita and Kansas, at their European engagements.

Playing in the tradition of the big bands from the 1930’s and 40’s, the Friends University Jazz Ensemble plays some music for listening and some for dancing. Joining the Ensemble is Wichita vocalist and composer, Rob Simon. Rob contributes his vocal stylings to a few favorite classics for this special pairing. Help give this group a warm send-off at the first Bradley Fair Summer Concert.

June 10         Mindi Abair - Mindi Abair was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and spent much of her early life on the road with her father’s band, The Entertainers. From those musical roots, when Mindi chose a band instrument in the fourth grade, she copied her father and went straight for the saxophone. "Music was always normal." says Abair. "I never considered anything else."  Since that moment, Midi Abair has not only set sonic trends, but has broken the boundaries as she continues to define the less traditional future of jazz. Abair’s own brand of soul and pop meets jazz adds a refreshingly unique approach to a new generation of powerful instrumentalists and inspiring singer/songwriters. Inspired, she is. And Abair’s performance is sure to inspire her Bradley Fair audience. For more information, visit mindiabair.com.

June 17         Erin Bode Group - The Erin Bode Group creates music forged from the Americana of its members' Midwestern roots, infused with jazz grooves and made magic by Bode's bell-like voice. Sophisticated arrangements and attention to phrasing, both vocal and instrumental, distinguish the band's fresh sound. Described as "a sorceress of female jazz vocals ... hints of Joni Mitchell and Van Morrison," Erin Bode’s voice will blend perfectly with the soft summer air. June 24         Joseph Vincelli - Joseph Vincelli's signature is his passion towards his music. Vincelli is a native of New Jersey, although the Dallas Morning News has fondly embraced him as a long time resident of Texas. It was during his studies in Boston at the prestigious Berklee College of Music that he learned a deep appreciation for the art of improvisation. His ability to create music from an array of sources sets him apart from other smooth jazz artists. Vincelli has recorded ten albums in a seven-year period; his high energy reverberates with every note. For more information, visit josephvincelli.com.

July 1             Annual Celebrate America Concert and Fireworks - Mingo Fishtrap - With a sound that dances between soul, swing and horn-fueled rhythm & blues, Mingo Fishtrap is an anomaly in the contemporary music scene. With each of their four albums, the Austin, Texas group gravitates closer to the classic sounds that inspired their musical roots. The group traces its beginnings to the mid 90’s when six of the group’s eight members were attending the University of North Texas’ Jazz Studies program. Originally derived as a loose jam, audiences started listening and the ball started rolling. For more information, visit mingofishtrap.com.

Following the July 1 concert, we will light the skies over Bradley Fair Lake with a spectacular fireworks display to Celebrate America.
